Exceptional and rare velvet leopard print gown by Yves Saint Laurent, Spring 1993

This dress is so special that it appeared originally on the Couture Fall 1992 runway with the addition of a decorative belt, as well as in Spring 1993 with a black belt.

Only two recorded sales of this dress, one being at Christie's 2019 sale of Catherine Deneuve's Yves Saint Laurent collection, where her Couture Fall 1993 version was sold.

The dress is a full length gown with cowl neck, subtle shoulder pads and banded waist, all beautifully balanced to give an incredible silhouette. There is ruching on sleeves which fasten with a zip, and a side zip. It has a brown full length slip dress underneath.

Size: FR 36 but fits smaller, equivalent to an XS.

Condition: Overall good with some partial unstitching on inside of hem, and some general flaws to fabric due to the nature of it not having any stretch.

A truly beautiful and rare example of Yves Saint Laurent.
